Will Smith APOLOGISES To Chris Rock For Slapping Him On Stage At The Oscars; 'Joke About Jada's Medical Condition Was Too Much For Me To Bear'
Will Smith has apologised to comedian Chris Rock for slapping him on stage at Oscars 2022
Oscars 2022 will be remembered for many reasons. One reason being Will Smith-Chris Rock's shocking onstage moment. For the uninitiated, Will slapped Chris Rock for making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett's hair. Now, a day after slapping the comedian on the Oscars stage, Will has apologised to him. The 'King Richard' actor stated that Chris' joke about his wife Jada was too much for him to bear.
Taking to Instagram, Will shared a long note that reads, "Violence in all it's forms is poisonous and destructive. My behaviour at last night's Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada's medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally."
He added, "I would like to publicly apologise to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness." ALSO READ:Oscars 2022: Will Smith Slaps Chris Rock For Joking About Wife Jada; Yells: ‘Keep My Wife's Name Out Of Your F***ing Mouth’
"I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behaviour has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us. I am a work in progress. Sincerely, Will," concluded his note.
Will shocked everyone when he slapped Chris on stage. Rock said, "Jada, I love you. GI Jane 2, can't wait to see it." Jada, whose head is shaved, has spoken publicly about her alopecia diagnosis. Jada rolled her eyes when Chris made a joke about her hair. After slapping Chris, Will shouted at Chris saying 'get my wife's name out of your f***ing mouth." After the shocking moment, Will won the best actor award for his performance in King Richard.
